Happy Groundhog Day from Punxsutawney

Happy Groundhog Day from Punxsutawney

One day you too may be saying, “Happy Groundhog Day from Punxsutawney!” It could be that you feel compelled to make the trip to Punxsutawney Pennsylvania to experience Ground Hog Day firsthand just like Bill Murray in the movie by the same name.

Traveling from Detroit to Quebec, and the trip was developed around 2 events. Being at Groundhog Day for Groundhog Day to see Punxsutawney Phil in the flesh with one of them. We;ve all seen Ground Hog Day with Bill Murray and I wanted to take that PA experience in for myself. Together with my buddy Dave @fossores we made it happen. A Life Highlight!

You can tell the level of excitement from the video as they document…

We are actually in Punxsutawney Pennsylvania. This is a wood carving of Phil behind us. As we videolog – this adventure blog… we have to be here at 3 a.m. There’s like a mile and a half in the dark in the woods to get to the fireworks display and the live band and the hot chocolate. Three and a half hours with before Phil even considers coming out of the hole.

It is three in the morning and we are preparing to go mount the knob. We are going to gobblers knob and this is where Phil is at. We are going to get the knob bus. We have arrived at the gobblers knob.

To create excitement within the gathering crowd the event host says, “He’s got a big job, a little over an hour from now so let’s get him a little fired up what do you say?”

Are you ready to get serious about the weather? Is it six more weeks of winter? [Applause] or is it an early spring?

The time has finally arrived, “Alright we’re about ready to find out…. Punxsutawney Phil!”

Then it is announced… Ladies and Gentlemen… he has made his prediction…

As it turns out Six More Weeks of Winter!”

Obviously most people remember and associate this annual event in Punxsutawney Pennsylvania with the hit movie Groundhog Day starring Bill Murray as TV Weatherman Phil Connors.

Just like in the movie itself, you can watch it over and over and over and never get tired seeing it… ever!

So now you’re wondering… how in the world do I even get to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania? If I had the time and money to one day go there, just because I could… would it be adventurous enough to put it on my bucket list?

What if I told you a super secret resource that many world travelers, bloggers & vloggers are using right to eliminate both those limitations of both time and money.

13 Stunningly Beautiful Places In America

13 Stunningly Beautiful Places In America

Want to discover 13 Stunningly Beautiful Places In America? I bet you haven’t heard about the northern part… From Castle Rock in Grove County Kansas to Watkins Glen State Park in New York, here are 13 Stunningly Beautiful Places In America you need to go visit.

There are beautiful places all across the USA from coast to coast however I think that you may want to see this video posted below that may very well open your eyes to a few more destinations that will take your breath away once you visit there in person.

Number 13 – Skadget Valley Tulip Fields from the northwest portion of the United States find this alluring wonder of Mother Nature inside the lush groves of Washington State. These luscious fields of tulip flowers grow along the Skadget River and there’s even a tulip festival held in this location each year in the spring time usually April 1st through the 30th.

This festival of flowers is said by many to be one of Washington’s largest outdoor festivals typically with nearly 1 million visitors. With hundreds, maybe thousands of individual tulips in all the colors of the rainbow, this place seems more like a dream than a destination making this place definitely worth checking out on your next road trip through America.

Number 12 – Garden of the Gods from Colorado Springs Colorado. This piece of gorgeous nearly untouched wilderness has many legends and folklore which surround it. The Native American UTE tribe is rumored to be responsible for the cryptic edgings found along the parks red rock walls as well as several carefully conceived fire rings which date back over 3,000 years.

This National Natural Landmark is set to be sacred ground by many Native American tribes. Some call this land the crossroads. Even the mightiest of native warriors would surrender their swords and quell their arrows upon entering the holy land. The Manitou Springs and inter-mountain trail, known as the Youth Pass are said to contain the most petroglyphs but few are able to decipher the stories which swell inside the ancient images.

Number 11 – The Painted Hills is part of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. Located inside Wheeler County Oregon, these hills which appears to be painted by the gods are listed as one of the seven wonders of Oregon. The layers of lavish color ingrained into the bed the sprawling rock, were formed when the area was an ancient River floodplain. The black soil is lignite, which was a vegetable matter known for growing along the base of the floodplain. The great colors are comprised of mud, stone, silt stone and shale. The red is laterite. Soils formed through natural deposits inside the earth. There are fossils of early horses, camels, rhinoceros and many more bones trapped inside the stones to be found here. This land is a paleontologists dream world.

Number 10 – Sonoran Desert. Finally a desert. Now we’re talking. This gorgeous landmass covers a large portion of the southwestern United States and is well known as a serene place of quiet and stunning natural beauty. Here in this desert the stars shine like you’ve never seen. Sunsets are rumored to be beyond astounding. Haboobs monsoons, saguaros, joshua trees, organ pipe cactus and all those timid desert flowers which bloom in nearly every shade of the rainbow. The full desert spans about 260,000 square miles but the coniferous Arizona mountain forests are said to be the most ravishing to behold. Find over 60 species of mammals, 350 species of birds, 20 amphibian creatures, over 100 different kinds of native fish, over a thousand native types of beef and more than 2,000 native plant species.

Number 9 _ Gila cliff dwellings. Get ready we’re going subterranean for this next ravishing piece of American Beauty. This United States National Monument was established primarily to protect the Mogollon cliff dwellings which run along the Gila River in New Mexico. The 533 acre park is full of rivers, forests, animals, plants and all kinds of natural beauty. However the real attraction resides beneath those lush green fields and towering canyons of rocks. Over 750 years ago, hunter-gatherer communities frequented this favorite place especially the Magana Native Americans.

A plethora of ruins remains from this ancient culture deep inside the mountain stone. Archaeologists have unearthed 46 rooms from the five caves which make up the cliff dweller Canyon alone and those ruins are only the beginning. There’s a TJ ruin, the Witte Corral, the Three-Mile ruin, the Cosgrove ruins and so much more.

Number 8 – Monterey Bay. This Bay known as Monterey can be found in the northern end of California’s Central Coast and is rumored to contain one of the largest underwater canyons on the entire planet. Find this world under the sea off the coast of Moss Landing. Exactly in the very center of Monterey Bay, marine life here is set to be mind-blowing. Species includes sea otters harbor and elephant seals, bottlenose dolphins, sharks and humpback and killer whales just to name a very select few.

Kelp Pier is set to grow as tall as trees forming what some call the Kelp Forest. The water flows in crystal waves and if the devastatingly beautiful scenery isn’t enough for you, try out the Monterey Bay Aquarium which is same nearly the world over

Number 7 – Yellowstone. This National Park is huge, like really really huge. The whole park is nearly 3,500 square miles. This Park has everything nature has to offer. Lakes, forest, rivers, mountains, a geyser called Old Faithful, the Morning Glory pool, the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and the Grand Prismatic spring are just a few of the natural beauties which place this National Park on the map.

If you’re into archeology, there are over 1,000 archaeological sites. There’s also the largest super-volcano on the continent to be explored here, as well as hundreds of species of mammals, birds, fish and reptiles – some of which are endangered. Yellowstone Lake is one of the highest elevation lakes in North America.

Number 6 – Turnip Rock on Lake Huron. Lake Huron is one of America’s five Great Lakes. It comprises the easterly portion of Lake Michigan but the real beauty lives inside the lake near Port Austin. It is called Turnip Rock, eroded by watery waves over the course of thousands and thousands of years, is this freestanding rock. The popular outdoor destination is well known by locals for its scenic views and crystal-clear waters. You can only reach this coveted landmass by boat. Once there, climbing the rocky ledges reveal a stunning forest nearly untouched by time or filthy human hands. The geological formation is a lesser-known American beauty but still one of the best especially for those who thrive in the outdoors.

Number 5 – Castle Rock and Grove County. Eons ago, as the stories say… an ancient sea covered nearly all of the Midwest. Inside this lush Grove, found in Kansas, a maddening array of chalk deposits spanned nearly 11 miles and are said to be breathtakingly beautiful. There are limestone pillars which tower over the nearby Badlands of the Smoky Hills region but the big sensation here is Castle Rock. A landmark on the Butterfield Overland Dispatch route known by many as the Overland Trail. Castle rocks name hails from its resemblance to a castle rising above the Prairie. This place of natural divinity is one of the eight wonders of Kansas.

Number 4 – Yosemite Valley. From the lush groves which dwell inside the mountainous world of Northern California, comes this monumentally gorgeous National Park. Enter through the tunnel view. Take either of the hiking trail loops which stay within the valley and lead to the trailhead which forces visitors to travel upwards for some truly scenic wonders.

Yosemite Falls is the highest waterfall in all of North America. The valley is around eight miles long and nearly a full mile deep. Some of the best summits are rumored to be the Half Dome, Cathedral Rocks, Three Brothers and Elcapitan. There are over ten wondrous waterfalls endless mountain rocks, gorges and canyons as well as so many pine trees it’ll make your head spin.

Number 3 – Horseshoe Bend. This next place of intensive American beauty can be found in the bend of the Colorado River from the Arizona side. Pretty darn close to that illustrious world of rock known as the Grand Canyon. This formation of land is as you may have guessed in the shape of a horseshoe.

The bend is located approximately five miles downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell. The hike for access is roughly one and a half miles and from what the stories say is well worth the effort. A magnificent overlook is from 4200 feet above sea level and allows for a view of nearly the entire span of the massive National State Park. The steep cliffs which rise above Horseshoe Bend come in a dazzling array of colors thanks to all those lovely minerals.

Number 2 – Watkins Glen State Park. This devastatingly beautiful glimpse into the splendor of Mother Nature can be found in Schuyler County New York, inside the Finger Lakes region. The centerpiece of this luxurious park of all things nature, is a 400 foot gorge cut through the mountainous rocks by Glen Creek which formed from melting glaciers. Rapids and waterfalls grow wild here.

The rocks are mostly soft shales with several layers of color-changing sandstone and limestone. There are three gorgeous trails to enter the cavern of the gorge. Indian trails takes you through the forest. Gorge trail follows closest to the stream and runs over the parks 19 waterfalls by way of stone bridges and over 800 stone steps. Finally there is the Finger Lakes Trail an 800 mile system of outdoor bliss.

Number 1 – Zion. This national park can be found in Utah. It spans nearly 230 square miles and is filled with astounding formations of canyons as well as lush forests and stunning wildlife. There are approximately 290 species of birds, seventy-five mammals including 20 distinct species of bats and 32 unique breeds of reptiles as well as oddles and oodles of plants.

The park is so immense it’s best to navigate through the four life zones. There’s a desert portion, the riparian world the woodland spaces and the coniferous forest. There are mountains to climb, canyons to explore, buttes to rest on, rivers to ride and natural arches to take your breath away. Truly a sight to behold and an entire world of outdoor beauty to explore. Zion is a definite must-see!

10 Best Places to Visit in Florida

10 Best Places to Visit in Florida

When most people think of Florida, they think of sunshine, theme parks, orange juice and alligators. But this former Spanish colony, which became the 27th state to enter the Union, is much more than that. Get ready to see our list of the 10 best places to visit in Florida!

Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other, it has mile upon mile of white sand beaches. Its moderate climate makes it a popular tourist destination all year round.

Here’s a look at the best places to visit in Florida.

Number 10. Panama City Beach. Panama City Beach on the Florida panhandle offers 27 miles of white sand beaches on the Emerald Coast. The beach is a popular destination for residents of the southern United States as well as tens of thousands of high school and college students on spring break. Besides having fun in the sun in the emerald green waters, this town of just over 12,000 permanent residents offers sports fishing on the gulf, plenty of golfing, marine parks including one for alligators, amusement and water parks …in short, something for everyone in the family.

Number 9. Naples. Naples may have had rustic beginnings, but today this Gulf of Mexico city is one of the wealthiest cities in the United States, with houses selling for more than $40 million.

As on Sanibel and Captiva Islands, development along the shoreline has been kept residential. It got its name because the bay it’s located on was said to be prettier than the Bay of Naples in Italy. Besides its beautiful city beach, the nearby wildlife refuges make it a popular tourist destination. The city also has vibrant arts and shopping districts.

Number 8. Sanibel Island. Sanibel Island is located just off Fort Myers in the Gulf of Mexico. It is connected to the mainland by a causeway.

It is known as a quiet, natural travel destination, well-suited for families. Wildlife refuges take up more than half of this long narrow island, whose beaches are also popular as places to hunt for shells. This island of less than 7,000 permanent residents may have harbored pirates in the days of yore, if local legends are to be believed. Aside from beachcombing and looking for wildlife, attractions include a highly-rated historical museum, a lighthouse and an arts center.

Number 7. Fort Lauderdale. No longer the Spring Break destination of popular imagination, Fort Lauderdale is today a sophisticated cultural center with an increasingly upmarket social scene. Located on the Atlantic Ocean about 23 miles north of Miami Beach it is also known as the “Venice of America” due to its expansive canal system.

The city has an impressive tourist infrastructure with plenty of hotels, golf courses, marinas and museums. The city’s Port Everglades is one of the busiest cruise-ship ports in the world, with megaships departing daily for the Caribbean, Mexico and beyond. The most popular section of the city beach is called “The Strip” with eating and drinking establishments that run along the land side of the beach road.

Number 6. Clearwater Beach. Boasting miles of white sandy beaches, Clearwater Beach is separated by the city of Clearwater by the Intracoastal Waterway. USA Today readers in 2013 named it Florida’s Best Beach Town. Besides laying in the white sand and swimming in the clear water there are also many activities offered such as fishing, sailing, kayaking, and dolphin tours. Clearwater Beach is also a happening place, with a variety of events taking place throughout the year. The Philadelphia Phillies hold their spring training camp here while the Clearwater Jazz Festival, takes place in October. Or visitors can take in the weekly sunsetting festival at Pier 60, a sports fishing pier.

Number 5. Everglades. One of Florida’s best natural treasures, the Everglades feature a unique combination of ecosystems that include swamps, sub-tropical jungles, saw-grass prairies and the largest mangrove complex in the Western Hemisphere. Much of the Everglades are protected within the Everglades National Park and provide shelter to a wide variety of birds, fish and reptiles, including endangered species like the American crocodile and the Florida panther.

From the Gulf Coast Visitor Center, visitors can arrange boat tours to the Ten Thousand Islands, a labyrinth of mangrove islands. Other visitor centers offer ranger-led tours and programs. An air boat tour is one of the most exciting ways to experience the Everglades.

Number 4. Tampa Bay Area. The Tampa Bay area, on the Gulf of Mexico, includes Tampa Bay, a large natural harbor and the cities of Tampa and St. Petersburg. Tampa is home to the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Family-oriented activities include Busch Gardens, a theme park said to have Florida’s best roller coaster rides as well as a zoo dedicated to animals from Africa’s Serengeti Plain.

As for beachcombing, St. Pete Beach can’t be beat. It was named the best beach in the United States and fifth in the world by TripAdvisor readers in 2012 because of its white sand beaches and clear water.

Number 3. Orlando. Orlando is theme-park city, having more theme parks than any place else in the world. There’s Walt Disney World, Epcot Center, Universal Studios, SeaWorld and Gator Park, to name a few, all of which bring 51 million visitors a year to this central Florida city of 2 million people.

This Sunbelt city doesn’t get hit by hurricanes as much as other parts of the state, which makes it a great place to visit in Florida. One of American’s most visited cities, Orlando is also home to the University of Central Florida, which has the second largest college enrollment in the United States.

Number 2. Miami. One of the most vibrant cities in the USA, Miami is best known for its Latin culture and sizzling nightlife. Located in southeastern Florida off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, Miami is also a major port city managing the world’s largest number of passenger cruise ships.

Attracting tourists from all over the planet, Miami is a melting pot of ethnic cultures with a wide array of exciting attractions and activities. One of Miami’s main draws is its sunny beaches that range from family friendly to party scenes. Across the bay from Miami on a barrier island is Miami Beach, known for its Art Deco architecture and glamorous South Beach.

Number 1. Florida Keys. The Florida Keys are a 120 mile long chain of tropical islands curving around the base of the Florida peninsula, connected to the mainland by a series of bridges.

The most spectacular bridge, the Seven Mile Bridge in the Lower Keys, has been frequently used as a location for films including True Lies and Fast 2 Furious. US Highway 1, the “Overseas Highway” runs from Key Largo, Islamadora, Marathon, Lower Keys and finally to Key West, the most distant and most famous of the Florida Keys.

That’s concludes ourlist of the 10 Best Places to Visit in Florida

One Day in Beautiful Charleston, South Carolina

One Day in Beautiful Charleston, South Carolina

Today we are showcasing Traveling Robert’s video, “One Day in Beautiful Charleston, South Carolina.” Robert loves to travel around in his RV visiting destinations all across the USA and today he visits Charleston.

While RVing around Charleston, Robert provides us glimpse’s of historic Fort Sumter, the historic houses, the historic churches, cemeteries and so much more.

Let’s Allow Robert To Narrate His Video In His Own Words

Before we visit this beautiful city of Charleston, let’s enjoy a morning stroll around this beautiful park. Okay, let’s drive to Charleston. The first thing we are going to do today is visit Fort Sumter, and the first ferry departs at nine, and I’m running late. I think we are going to make it in the nick of time. Let’s park here at the aquarium parking lot. I really hope I can make it on time, it is almost nine. This is Liberty Square. The aquarium, this is the Fort Sumter National Monument.

Inside they have this museum but I have to rush through in order to make it to the ferry. That’s the boat. There’s this sitting area and there is the famous Arthur Ravenel Bridge, but as soon as the ferry departs, I am going to the upper deck to get a better view. – Concern to protect the sensitive ecosystem of the Charleston harbor for the convenience of all our guests. Smoking is prohibited on all Fort Sumter tour vessels. – We finally depart and there’s the Carnival Ecstasy, I actually went on a cruise on that ship back in the early 90’s when it was brand new. They have this bar here on the lower deck but there’s no one here. There’s the old custom house, one of the most famous buildings here in Charleston, and there’s the U.S.S. Yorktown.

This small fort in the middle of the harbor is Castle Pinckney, here we see it with Fort Sumter in the background. See all those Church spires or steeples? Well Charleston is also called the holy city because of the great number of churches of different denominations in the city. We’re almost there. The palmetto, the symbol of South Carolina. Fly pelican! (laughs) Well here we are.

Fort Sumter was of great significance during the American Civil War, as the first battle was fought right here. That’s a good trip. We get a very detailed explanation of all the events that transpired here. We are free to roam around, explore every nook and cranny. They are going to raise the flag now. There is Charleston in the distance and the sandbar to the west. Since we are the first tour of the day, we have the honor to witness and some to participate in the raising of the flag ceremony. (applause) This is a good gun, the big one. They have all these exhibits outside with the different cannons and the historic context, and here’s looking towards the sandbar. There is a small museum inside where they give you a more detailed history and they have all these artifacts.

And there is the flag that flew in Fort Sumter during the bombardment on April 1861. This is the flag. These are all the flags that have flown here over the years. (upbeat instrumental music) Oh I wonder what’s down there under the hatch. This was a very nice visit here, Fort Sumter. 31 dollars, very informative, you know the national park service, everything is new like the speakers on the boat were super clear so we could understand everything, it is very well maintained here, and there’s a lot of history that I didn’t know actually, especially that the Civil War started here, of course the wind picks up at the exact moment when I start recording the video. Anyways we’re going to continue exploring Charleston now, that’s Charleston down there, I don’t know if you can see it cause of the wide angle but yeah, that’s where we’re going next.

We head back on the boat in about five minutes, actually I think they’re leaving without me, they’re leaving without me. There he is, he’s gotta make sure everybody gets off the island. Three miles away. Going back to the mainland. Once again, there is the U.S.S. Yorktown, of World War Two glory. One of it’s final missions, the recovery of the Apollo Eight command module on December of 1968. The bridge of course, the Arthur Ravenel opened in 2005 and it has a pedestrian and a bike lane. We’ll cross it later for sure. And here’s another close up of the Yorktown. We’re not going to have time to visit it today unfortunately but it’s on the list.

And we are back and we see dolphins. The next victims. Let’s go find something to eat. Yes I am starving, I skipped breakfast again. That’s where we came from. This is Liberty Park. It is actually called Liberty Square and it is a nice park here by the aquarium and the ferry terminal. It’s actually called Liberty Square. Now let’s go find the parking near downtown. Finding parking has proved challenging, there is this meter but it is only for half an hour, so. I found parking on the top floor, at least we have a view. This is the Cumberland garage. Let’s explore, this is where I parked. One dollar for half and hour, but it is what it is.

Downtown. Okay, here we are, East Bay Street. We’ll go there later. This is one of the main historic streets here. There is Magnolia’s, the restaurant where we ate the last time we were here. There is also Blossom, but my plan is to go to the Lagunitas taproom and beer sanctuary. But I can’t find it. Let me walk around a little bit, see if I can find a place that is not very formal, more like a bar since I am by myself here.

This fountain is a waterfront park, from where you can see once again, Castle Pinckney and Fort Sumter. I finally make up my mind and go for this deserted French bistro, spectacular turkey club sandwich that I wash down with an ice cold beer. Much better now. Well Lagunitas apparently shut down but I ate at this place called East Bay Meeting House. Well let’s explore one of the most picturesque cities in the United States of America. Apparently there were slave auctions all along this street. Here’s a historic building from the 1700’s called the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon. The building has served many functions over the years, it was even a jail during the Revolutionary War.

Here’s looking west on Broad Street, towards the San Michael church, we’ll go there later. Now we are approaching a city block called Rainbow Row and let’s hear the explanation from this fine city guide. – High class people came in and brightened up the area and then in the 1950’s a photographer from Time magazine visited Charleston, took pictures of these homes and captioned his photo, a beautiful Rainbow Row. That’s how it gets it’s name. – Well, there you go, now you know where the name Rainbow Row comes from. The famous Rainbow Row back there, gonna walk a little bit on this street, this is very very picturesque.

Here we are, by Adger’s Wharf, at the southern end of water front park. Nice area for a picnic here. I originally thought that these plaques on all the houses with the year meant that the house dated back to like 1670, but they all have the same year so no, it is just the year of the founding of the city, and the plaque is just an award given to property owners who have preserved their historic homes.

Here, East Bay street becomes East Battery with this promenade and old antebellum homes. Some of these homes are bed and breakfasts. Some, like this one, are museums. I’ve seen that C17 plane flying around a couple of times today. By the way this is the Roper house which you can also tour, dating back to 1838, it originally belonged to Robert Roper, a prominent cotton planter. We are reaching the end and this park here is called White Point Garden. Here is a statue of General William Moultrie, twice governor of South Carolina. Beautiful park. This is a monument dedicated to the defenders of Fort Moultrie. I think I’m going to take a break. There goes another military plane. Nearby here, a joint base Charleston shares runways with Charleston International Airport.

At the southern tip of Charleston stands this other monument to the confederate defenders of Charleston, installed in 1932 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Here’s the famous bandstand, but it’s not used for concerts anymore because the neighbors complained about the noise. Well I’ve taken my break here at the park, now let’s continue exploring. I’m just going to walk back north here on Meeting Street, this here is actually a b and b, it would be pretty cool to stay at an 1892 mansion here. This here is the Calhoun Mansion, the largest single family residence in all of Charleston, and they do have tours but I’m not in the touring mood.

I mean I am tempted to go in, it looks like it is beautiful inside but nah. Not everything is restored here, this one here seems to be in a little bit of disrepair. First Presbyterian Church. They look like they’ve got a delivery. Let’s see the cemetery next to the church. Some important people are buried here. Betcha. I know it is probably rude to be peeking into a private residence, but the pretty garden caught my attention, and this one too. They’re selling something here. Here is the recently renamed judicial center. These are sweetgrass baskets, weaved by gulla artisans, being sold right here in front of Saint Michael’s Church built in the 1760’s.

This one also has a rather large cemetery inside the property. I wonder how all these people would feel if they knew that their final resting place has become a tourist attraction. (church bells) Very thin gravestones. More sweetgrass baskets. This intersection called the four corners of law. That’s city hall right there. Let’s continue exploring. The cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in the distance. This pretty park here is Washington Square. Beautiful oak trees. I assume this is old George himself. That is a FedEx truck right in front of the hall. And here, another church. I can see why they call it the holy city.

This is the circular congregational church. Of course there is a large cemetery in the back. Let’s go to that one next. They have some kind of artillery museum inside. Another time, perhaps. Here we are, Saint Philip’s Church. The state’s oldest congregation, and it is quite an imposing structure. In this one, the cemetery is actually across the street. It is open to visitors, let’s step inside. They let you see the church in exchange for a voluntary donation. This is by the way an Episcopal church, the current building dating back to 1836, although the spire wasn’t finished until 1850. You do have to open these doors in order to sit down for service. (church bells) It is three p.m. This one has the largest graveyard of all the other churches I’ve seen today and the largest mausoleums too. Oak tree. There’s Calhoun, the one with the largest house. Well, there you have it, lots of important people interred here.

More important people over here. I am hot and thirsty and guess what I found, a bar! That’s not Bud Light, by the way, you know I like my IPA. Hm, it rhymes. Apparently it is a huge pub, just a slow time of the day, it was a little bit of a pick me up and now we continue towards the market which is this way, I think. What can I tell you guys, I’m exhausted, I did a run this morning at the campgrounds, and then we did Fort Sumner, and now I’ve been at this for three hours, so just walking around exploring the city. But we have one more thing, one more thing to see before we go.

And that’s right here. Check it out. The city market, I’m going to go all the way to the end and walk you through. Everybody gets freaked out by this little camera, I don’t know why. Anyways, let me show you where we are. That’s it. Right there, that’s the entrance, the main entrance to the, it’s called the city market. I think the cruise ship is about to leave but here we have the market, let’s go in. Okay get ready, for the next minute and a half I am going to show you the market, the whole market, all four city blocks.

This market by the way was established here in the 1790’s, of course it’s burned down and had to be rebuilt, probably several times. (upbeat techno music) Well that was the city market, in a nutshell. I’m going to start walking back to the car. I think we’ve seen enough for one day but hey, there’s the old United States custom house building, right here by the market. Here it is from another angle. And there’s the cruise ship. I remember when that ship was brand new. Well in hindsight, maybe I should have used one of these bikes instead of walking. Caramela’s, this is supposed to be really good. I didn’t catch the music, the cruise is still here, but most importantly, Kia is still here. Well, saying goodbye to downtown Charleston. For now, but we are not leaving yet. You know I wanted to walk across the Arthur Ravenel bridge, but I am not going to do that, at least I am going to drive on it.

Here we go, fasten your seatbelts. It opened as I said in 2005. And it is the third longest bridge of it’s kind in the western hemisphere. And it is wide, eight lanes wide. On the other side is Mount Pleasant. And I want to see this park that has a pier here. Maybe see the view. There’s the famous bridge. This is the Mount Pleasant War Memorial. Right here in Mount Pleasant Memorial Park. But the real reason I came here was to see the bridge from underneath and to walk on the pier. This is very cool, this place here, great views, and I would love to continue exploring but I’m tired, the day is coming to an end soon. Before we call it a night, I am going to have dinner with a viewer. We are going to meet at this barbecue place called Swig and Swine. – You’ve arrived. – Here we are at Swig and Swine, we are about to eat, here’s John Legman, a viewer of the channel, let me. Well the light is not very good but we are going to eat now so I’ll let you know how it is.

In the morning, I depart. Very tempted to drive straight to Miami in one go. Google says it’s only like, eight hours. You see, the challenges we sometimes have on the road when we have to put gas. Must be lovebug season. They just appeared and they’re all over the place. Alright, let’s get back. You know what, I’m going to drive all the way back to Miami today. How hard could it be? I just have to drive through Georgia, into Florida, through Jacksonville at rush hour, way into the dark night, but I’m going to show you that in another video, maybe. Travel USA Destination – Alaska

Alaska Is One Of The Most Favorite Destination Trips For USA Travelers

Every year there are people I know that travel to Alaska for mostly a little rest and relaxation. I know individuals that go up to the great white north each year just for the annual Iditarod trail sled dog race each March from Settler’s Bay to Nome. Others go for the bountiful salmon fishing or to see the aurora borealis otherwise known as the northern lights.

You always hear that a cruise trip to Alaska is something to behold as you often get to see monolith iceberg formations or possibly catch a glimpse of eight different species of whales that frequent the cold and icy waters of Alaska almost daily.

I have a good friend that recently took his young family up to Girdwood Alaska, a ski resort community located roughly 30 miles south of Anchorage to take over a ministry. The pictures they post on Facebook are breathtaking of the mountainous rugged scenery as viewed from their own backyard.

Everywhere there is abundant wildlife with Moose, Kodiak bears and Caribou just to name a few that surround them in their natural habitat of the majestic raw splendor of wilderness itself. It’s been fun to see the changes from season to season from their eyes perspective as well.

My father was stationed in Alaska during WWII while serving in the Army Air Corp and had hundreds of pictures and thousands of  tales to share with all of his kids when we were growing up. My youngest Brother and his Travel Nurse wife ventured for a stay in Alaska a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed their experience living up there.

Nothing describes an Alaskan experience more then video. I like the idea of sharing other people’s Vlog Stories every chance I get because it always seems to capture the true essence and adventure of their travel experience almost every time.

You have to enjoy aerial drone footage these days as HD (High Definition) quality productions is the standard practice when it comes to both capturing great recording moments and video editing too. In Alaska, there is so much to see and experience, you almost have to take a camera with you almost everywhere you go or you might just miss that one spectacular moment.

Travel USA Destination Alaska?

I plan to book my own trip to visit there very soon. Maybe for a ten day GoodLife USA Getaway in the summer of 2018. I hear the local smoked salmon dishes in most every small town restaurant is simply amazing!

Travel USA Destination – San Antonio Texas

San Antonio – The Most Visited City In Texas

Your next Travel USA Destination – San Antonio Texas. So what makes San Antonio Texas such a great as a place to visit? How about starting with it’s illustrious history by remembering the Alamo. These days San Antonio is all about Texas flavored tourism with modern day leisure activities and Tex-Mex entertainment and food that is everywhere.

San Antonio Texas

San Antonio Texas is the seventh-most populous city in the United States and the second-most populous city in Texas. San Antonio was originally founded as a Spanish mission and colonial outpost in 1718. It was in the summer of  1731 when the township of San Antonio became the first chartered civil settlement in Texas making it the oldest municipality in the State.

San Antonio is home to some of the most exciting and unique attractions in Texas that include the historic River Walk attraction that winds it’s way almost three miles through the heart of San Antonio. The River Walk in itself is a “must do” experience when visiting San Antonio.

the alamo san antonio texas

Remember the Alamo is a phrase almost all Americans are familiar with.  The Alamo Mission is also one of the most photographed tourist attractions in the world.

The Alamo structure was originally known as MisiĂłn San Antonio de Valero. It was founded in the 18th century as a Roman Catholic mission and also served the people of the region as a local fortress compound.

This very place was the site of the famous Battle of the Alamo in 1836 that involved the likes of William Travis, James Bowie and of course Davy Crockett and the volunteers from Tennessee.

San Antonio offers so much in tourism besides the Alamo and the downtown Riverwalk District. There’s also Six Flags Fiesta Texas,  Tower of the Americas, Sea World San Antonio, Universal City, the Botanical Gardens, Natural Bridge Caverns the San Antonio Zoo and so much more!

Mr. Six

Who remembers the old Six Flags commercial that introduced that old guy Mr. Six and his infectious dance routine to that crazy tune?

Can’t you just see yourself taking a boat ride off the riverwalk or even enjoying a nice luncheon with family or friends watching the boats pass by?

I found this very informative Full Review video about SeaWorld in San Antonio that gives you a lot of insight from a visitors perspective!

San Antonio Texas is a dream destination trip for many people across America and has actually been listed in many publications as a Bucket List favorite of many travelers. If San Antonio is on your list, see how being a member of GoodLife USA can save you money by not only traveling there and lodging, but also with dining and entertainment expenses too!
