Top 3 Travel USA Vlogger’s Review JAN 2019

Top 3 Travel USA Vlogger’s Review | January 2019

Introducing our newest monthly segment at Travel USA Discounts… it’s our TOP 3 TRAVEL USA VLOGGER’S REVIEW. Over this most recent holiday season our staff got together to come up with a fun project that we could do collectively as a special segment each month for our ever populating viewership base.

We decided to start this January 2019 a vlog review segment and feature three different USA related VLOG Channels from YouTube and showcase and review three of their respective videos each. Sounds fun, right?

With that said, we searched YouTube videos high and low for the most interesting vlogs out there that caught our eye. Going into this search, our thinking is that our criteria for selecting our initial video choices will be rather simplistic. We were looking for vlog videos that offered the most genuine and original content.

We also looked at the personalities of the vloggers if they had fun, a sense of adventure while projecting enjoyment doing their videos. Finally their videos had to resonate with those of us that love to travel to a variety of destination locations all across America.

It really doesn’t matter to us if your content is the most polished with professional edits, music and dialog however we do look for vloggers with upbeat likeability traits. We love those that also portray a sense of anticipation and discovery within their travel videos too.

A lot of our viewers agree that it’s not really the final destination location of travel videos that capture their interest and imagination but sometimes it’s the entirety of the journey from start to finish. That’s why many successful travel vloggers will have video footage of them leaving for their destination by car on a fun road trip or by air travel with shots of them at the airport leaving, or showing the wing outside their window high above the clouds.

An Open Invitation To Vlog About Traveling The USA

Let it be known that we at Travel USA Discounts are offering everyone an Open Invitation to vlog about travel destination locations, both big and small within the USA and submit it to our staff to potentially get it featured at some point on our blog. You can be a newbie vlogger or a seasoned pro.

You can submit personal vlog storylines of just getting started vlogging with only your smart phone camera while using a free online video editing software to advanced professional video editing technology.

The point is, if you can produce favorable vlog content, chances are that we will want to at some point showcase your work. You can create a video from a visit to Times Square in New York City, or a video from a travel to a remote cornfield in Albion, Nebraska. Remember, it’s not where you shoot your video, but rather your adventurous storyline behind it.

#1 The Wandering Wyatt’s – Blair & Matt

Starting off our Top 3 Vlogger Reviews, in no particular order we discovered Blair & Matt. Their YouTube channel is named, “The Wandering Wyatts.” To find them, our staff used a particular travel vlog usa search method that pulled them right up. After reviewing  numerous videos within their channel, they pretty matched much all of our criteria guidelines.

All we can say about this fun couple is that we all here at Travel USA Discounts have become big fans of theirs… almost instantly from the first video of theirs that we reviewed.

WELCOME TO THE WYATTS WANDER TEXAS SERIES

This is the first video we came across in 2019 that we discovered. It was created by a young couple that vlogs for enjoyment named Blair and Matt known as the Wandering Wyatt’s.

Their opening introduction in this video really captured our interest regarding the beer bottle caps that actually promote small town destinations all across the State of Texas. What an innovative idea.

Actually it’s a bit of genius when it comes to travel promotions if you ask us. Wyatt discusses his great idea to travel to the first location that pops up under the bottle top.

See their second Wander Texas Series episode here.

HOW MUCH WE MAKE ON YOUTUBE?

On this second video from the Wandering Wyatt’s, what we really like about Blair and Matt a lot is their transparency regarding all things personal including earnings that they have received from their YouTube channel. They also openly talk about other sources of revenue from their channel that they may eventually plan to pursue.

When it comes down to it their vlogging adventure started as a simple hobby or passion of Blair’s and kind of evolved into what it is today. She receives sheer enjoyment from putting their videos together and editing. This helps them connect with other people. The modest amount of money that they get from YouTube for their channel is just considered by them to be bonus income.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO OUR YOUTUBE FAMILY!

This video is their first one in 2019 and is quite informative as Blair and Matt spend a few moments to update their channel subscribers where they been recently. Blair explains that they disappeared for awhile to spend some quality time with loved ones over the Christmas Holiday season. For those that didn’t know, there is a baby on the way and is sure to bring much excitement and blessings into their lives.

They also discuss plans to not make too many plans in their immediate future until they figure things out. The last part of this video, Blair & Matt share lots of video and pictures of fun and games with family over the Christmas.

We think the Wandering Wyatt’s YouTube Channel is only going to get better and better in the months and years to come. With the addition of a new baby, they decided to put their RV Travels on hold for awhile as they clear their property to build a new container style home. We are anxiously looking forward to many more entertaining videos to come and wish Blair & Matt much success in their future.

Be sure to subscribe to Blair & Matt’s, The Wandering Wyatt’s channel on YouTube today!

#2 Gott Love – Kyle and Makenna Gott

It’s now time to introduce you to Kyle and Makenna Gott, a couple of sweethearts that has a lot of cool things happening on their  their Gott Love channel on YouTube. Not only are all of their edits crisp and precise, their music selections also include a Gott Love theme song and their own branded merchandise for sale too! That folks is called awesomeness!

The Gott Love Story – How It All Began

This is an exceptional video that features the love story beginnings and adventures of Makenna & Kyle Gott and the crazy story of how they initially met on YouTube while Kyle was still serving in the United States Air Force.

Exploring The Mall Of America

If you like big Mall Shopping Centers, there is none larger then the Mall Of America. See Makenna and Kyle as explore this massive mall while in Minnesota and experience a variety of high tech amusement park rides and food with a little shopping along the way.

By chance they encounter fellow youtuber named Marissa and her family. Kyle notices her vlogging camera and strikes up a quick conversation confirming that yes she vlogs too. After lunch, they all decide that it would be a lot of fun to enjoy each others company and ride on all the amusement rides together.

Looks like a great time for all at the Mall Of America indeed.

Driving Straight for 9 Hours During 6 Month Road Trip

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go on a road trip across America for 6 months? This video captures Kyle and Makenna’s midwestern journey that has them leaving Denver Colorado to trek across Kansas for a quick pitstop in Wichita, then to Kansas City for awhile on their way up to Iowa to spend some time with family.

Before leaving Denver they switch vehicles with friends for a larger, more roomy Chevrolet Suburban to continue on their journey. See Kyle and Makenna traveling across the great plains for over 500 miles seeing nothing but flat terrain and hundreds of wind turbines off I-70.

As darkness arrives they finally arrive at their destination in Wichita. They were scheduled to MeetUp with some of their YouTube Channel Fans at the Fairmount Coffee House. It seems everyone had a great time with fun loving conversations and a quick game of Yahtzee.

Say, isn’t that the Fairmount Coffee House location they went to across from Wichita State University? Yep, that’s my hometown where I grew up and the college I went to school at.

The next day Kyle and Makenna plan to get up early in the morning and head out towards Kansas City for their next stop on their way to Iowa. During their visit to Kansas City, they plan to  a lot of sight seeing and also catch their first ever NFL game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs. Good times ahead!

Do you Gott Love yet? We do here at Travel USA Discounts and are really looking forward to Makenna and Kyle’s next video adventure for sure. Be sure to subscribe to Makenna & Kyle’s, Gott Love channel on YouTube today!

#3 Tess Christine – Tess and Patrick

We are big fans of Tess Christine as she has mega success on her channel that features her passion for Beauty, Fashion and Lifestyle all integrated into most every one of her videos that she creates. You will see for yourself the her storylines, video edits and music selections are always exceptional.

You can tell Tess has great taste in everything she experiences in life and that includes her relationship with Patrick, her soon to be husband. You will soon discover that Patrick is also a fun loving adventurer as well and their sometimes this couples impromptu travel escapades make it always exciting to tag along with them and experience life to the fullest.

Travel Vlog San Francisco

This was actually the first video that we viewed of Tess Christine as we were searching for videos to add to our own Travel USA California playlist on our Travel USA Discounts YouTube Channel.

We were all simply amazed by not only Tess’s storyline of traveling to San Francisco to make this video, but the radiance and likability factor that both she and her fiancé Patrick projects on video.

Home town in Minnesota and Wisconsin

Living your everyday life in New York City can be fun and adventurous in itself however knowing where you come from can be just as exciting as we see Tess and Patrick return to their roots to revisit where they grew up. Minnesota and Wisconsin has never looked so good!

It’s always fun to see someone’s hometown from their own eyes as they recreate experiences with family and friends that made them who they are. In Tess’s home state of Wisconsin, you will see scenes of them riding bicycles around the neighborhood on a summer day, waltzing through beautiful sunflower fields in the countryside, eating stone fired pizza outdoors at a community gathering and having fun on the local lake with friends.

Speaking of having fun at the lake, the last part of this video takes us to Patrick’s home state on Minnesota where there’s over 10,000 lakes to choose from to swim and have fun. It’s obvious that one of Patrick’s passions growing up in his hometown was going down to the local library to get a good book and maybe even hang out downtown to enjoy a cold summertime refreshment drink with a straw.

Visiting the local garden market looked like pure enjoyment as did  just relaxing on the spacious front porch at home.

This video concludes with Tess and Patrick’s visit to a nearby local waterfall attraction and a day ending boat ride on the local town lake that perfectly framed their visit to Minnesota.

Pacific Northwest – Portland and Seattle at Twilight

It’s very cool where you can visit somewhere in the USA that you can connect to a famous movie that was filmed on location there. In this case you will see how passionate Tess is regarding the movie Twilight (2008) as a lot of it was filmed on location just outside of Portland OR.

Patrick, are you really starting your day off for breakfast in Portland at VooDoo Doughnuts with a Captain Crunch cereal topping on that huge doughnut?  It was really fun Tess & Patrick attempt to recreate famous scenes from Twilight with reciting movie script lines from sort of information based cue card markers along their path.

In the last minute they decided to hop on a train to Seattle Washington for an overnight stay. The next day they decided to explore the world famous Pike Place Market area and experienced tons of fun.

So we think Tess’s Channel brings her viewers tons of videos that accentuates her and Patrick’s normal, everyday genuine personalities that also integrates a sense of beauty, fashion and travel adventure into their everyday lifestyle of just being who they are.

Also, most of you have likely figured out by now that Tess & Andrew are engaged to be married. Be sure to subscribe to their channel on YouTube to follow their Week In My Life video series as they prepare to announce the big day.

As loyal channel subscribers ourselves, we at Travel USA Discounts wish this happy couple our very best and a prosperous future together. Congratulations!

So there it is. That’s our Top 3 Travel USA Vlogger’s Review for January 2019.

🙂

I Don’t Travel Because… It’s Always A Lack Of Money Issue

Do you have a desire to travel (wanderlust) but when it comes down to it the reason you don’t is because it’s a money issue? Why if I told you that I can personally help you with changing that situation within a month if not sooner so you too can start enjoying the GoodLife everyday starting today?

How is that possible? Have your ever heard of crowd funding?

Now I’m not speaking of the traditional crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, GoFundMe or Patreon that are marketed with multi-million dollar budgets within all forms (television, radio, print, etc.) of the mainstream media everyday.

Actually it is those high profile crowdfunding platforms that you have to pretty much market all of your personal crowdfunding campaigns yourself to countless friends, family and total strangers in order to get donations. It’s also those high profile crowdfunding platforms that are designed to receive all of your donations first so they get their commissions initially before you receive anything.

What I am talking about is the new method of cooperative crowdfunding where you are funded peer to peer and most often start receiving 100% of your donations within hours if not a few days. There are no middlemen companies involved to get their percentage of your donations first… and you really need to only find just TWO PEOPLE to start donating to your cause (not thousands) to get the floodgates of other donations to open up and start streaming in.

It’s indeed a Crowdfunding Revolution that is taking place globally and with the recent advancement of a new technology component called the Mobius Loop technology system that is now in place, it’s definately the right time and place to begin to Fund Any Or All Of Your Dreams today!

Are you ready to take a look yet?

Just CLICK THIS LINK RIGHT HERE or on the image above, fill in your information and then simply just sit back watch a few short videos, especially the last one to see what it’s all about. I guarantee you will be impressed how easy it can be.

Happy Groundhog Day from Punxsutawney

Happy Groundhog Day from Punxsutawney

One day you too may be saying, “Happy Groundhog Day from Punxsutawney!” It could be that you feel compelled to make the trip to Punxsutawney Pennsylvania to experience Ground Hog Day firsthand just like Bill Murray in the movie by the same name.

Traveling from Detroit to Quebec, and the trip was developed around 2 events. Being at Groundhog Day for Groundhog Day to see Punxsutawney Phil in the flesh with one of them. We;ve all seen Ground Hog Day with Bill Murray and I wanted to take that PA experience in for myself. Together with my buddy Dave @fossores we made it happen. A Life Highlight!

You can tell the level of excitement from the video as they document…

We are actually in Punxsutawney Pennsylvania. This is a wood carving of Phil behind us. As we videolog – this adventure blog… we have to be here at 3 a.m. There’s like a mile and a half in the dark in the woods to get to the fireworks display and the live band and the hot chocolate. Three and a half hours with before Phil even considers coming out of the hole.

It is three in the morning and we are preparing to go mount the knob. We are going to gobblers knob and this is where Phil is at. We are going to get the knob bus. We have arrived at the gobblers knob.

To create excitement within the gathering crowd the event host says, “He’s got a big job, a little over an hour from now so let’s get him a little fired up what do you say?”

Are you ready to get serious about the weather? Is it six more weeks of winter? [Applause] or is it an early spring?

The time has finally arrived, “Alright we’re about ready to find out…. Punxsutawney Phil!”

Then it is announced… Ladies and Gentlemen… he has made his prediction…

As it turns out Six More Weeks of Winter!”

Obviously most people remember and associate this annual event in Punxsutawney Pennsylvania with the hit movie Groundhog Day starring Bill Murray as TV Weatherman Phil Connors.

Just like in the movie itself, you can watch it over and over and over and never get tired seeing it… ever!

So now you’re wondering… how in the world do I even get to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania? If I had the time and money to one day go there, just because I could… would it be adventurous enough to put it on my bucket list?

What if I told you a super secret resource that many world travelers, bloggers & vloggers are using right to eliminate both those limitations of both time and money.

How To Travel Vlog – 4 Steps For Beginners

How To Travel Vlog – 4 Steps For Beginners

How To Travel Vlog – 4 Steps For Beginners is a quick look of how to start a travel vlog. If you were ever interested to maybe start video blogging when you travel across the USA then I would like to share a video that I have discovered that is full of insight and tips to get you started.

If you have you ever gone on vacation with family or took a fun trip with friends, this video is for you.

Today’s tea time we’re going to tackle four steps to create your first travel vlog. Now I know what you’re thinking, TJ I’m not a travel vlogger. Okay I get it but what is travel vlogging? It’s to video log your experiences right? So think of it as creating video memories. Vlogging for me is capturing more flow moments that I can later look back on in life.

Everyone has those experiences that they’d love to put on video because it’s offers so much more than photos.

This video will teach you how to make your first travel vlog and I promise we’ll break it down and make it easy.

We’ll reveal what to film in your travel vlog and how to actually edit your first video. I don’t care how old or young you are or how technologically advanced or creative you are, the most important thing is that you give it a try and who knows you may fall in love with it.

Step One is to start recording with whatever you have. The first travel vlog I’ve ever filmed with, a trip to San Diego with my friends was filmed on my phone. No apps, No tripod. Just handheld. You can start vlogging with any device that records.  I bet you already have some clips on your phone or your camera that you combine into a video.

Step Two is very important in creating a travel vlog. It’s all about telling a story that has a beginning, middle and end. Now it sounds kind of complicated but it’s actually very simple. I’m talking about showing movements. Showing how you get from point A to point B. Whatever you’re doing that day or for that trip, let your viewers know what it was like getting there, not just what it was like once there.

You can help tell the story with footage of walking shots, of the scenery leaves, moving ocean waves. When it comes to creating a travel vlog, the journey itself can be so much more interesting than just a destination.

What are some ways to tell the story? Well you can just speak into the camera and say, “Right now we’re walking through a bushy area but you’re about to see the ocean backdrop.” Let your friends and family know what’s happening throughout the day how it’s going, where you are, or you can capture shots of different interesting things.

Your vlog can start with something like a welcome sign or the sunrise. The middle of the vlog can be a main event like for me it’s finally reaching the viewpoint of the hike. The ending of the video can show you packing up your bags or your airplane departing.

People love following a journey journey. Some of my most popular vlogs are travel day blogs and if you think about some of the most popular youtubers vlogs, most of the time they are going somewhere whether it’s by plane, cruise ship, car or train. These modes of transportation seem to be always fascinating to viewers.

Step Three. I know people love to make compilations of epic scenes from their trip and that’s awesome but what makes a travel vlog sparkle and grab a person’s attention is to get personal. You need to capture shots of you  laughing or doing activities allowing your personality show on video. This is your travel vlog.

Yes your vlog should be about a destination but it also should also showcase footage snippets of your family & friends laughing, enjoying and just soaking up the experience… even if it’s just a few seconds. This will dramatically make your vlog more interesting, more heartfelt and more meaningful.

A few years later you will look back on it and love every second of it

Step Four. Now that you have all the clips it’s time to head home and edit everything together.

I use an editing software called iMovie.

Whichever editing software you use, like me you start by putting all your video clips, like I took on my phone and put them in the editing timeline folder.  I’m just putting these clips in some kind of order to build out my story so the clips I show at the beginning of my hike should be in the front. When I reached my destination viewpoint, that should be in the middle and then you know the ending.

Let’s say you want to spice things up and add some text or even music. It’s very simple. All you have to do is click on the title then drag over whatever style you want.

Just have fun with your editing and when you want to export your production, there’s an icon in the top right corner that you can click on and then you export it.

I want you to know you can absolutely create your first travel video and it is not as intimidating as it looks. Of course your first video is not going to be perfect but you will feel. You will discover by creating it, there’s something truly magical and exciting in experiencing your travels this way.

Just know that creating a video memory of your travels can be both fun and very entertaining not only for yourself but with others too. Start enjoying the GoodLife Everyday yourself and vlog about it where ever your travels take you.

So now you are inspired to start blogging yourself but you have reservations starting because financial or time restraints. What if I told you a super secret many bloggers & vloggers use to eliminate both those worries.

It’s called GoodLife USA and not only can you save money with a monthly subscription, but you can earn substantial income as an IBO/Affiliate too!

Be sure to find out more about GoodLife USA on Travel USA Discounts where you can get deep discounts and savings on hotels, airfare, car rentals, restaurants, entertainment and shopping at any destination that you may select to visit any time of the year.

One Day in Beautiful Charleston, South Carolina

One Day in Beautiful Charleston, South Carolina

Today we are showcasing Traveling Robert’s video, “One Day in Beautiful Charleston, South Carolina.” Robert loves to travel around in his RV visiting destinations all across the USA and today he visits Charleston.

While RVing around Charleston, Robert provides us glimpse’s of historic Fort Sumter, the historic houses, the historic churches, cemeteries and so much more.

Let’s Allow Robert To Narrate His Video In His Own Words

Before we visit this beautiful city of Charleston, let’s enjoy a morning stroll around this beautiful park. Okay, let’s drive to Charleston. The first thing we are going to do today is visit Fort Sumter, and the first ferry departs at nine, and I’m running late. I think we are going to make it in the nick of time. Let’s park here at the aquarium parking lot. I really hope I can make it on time, it is almost nine. This is Liberty Square. The aquarium, this is the Fort Sumter National Monument.

Inside they have this museum but I have to rush through in order to make it to the ferry. That’s the boat. There’s this sitting area and there is the famous Arthur Ravenel Bridge, but as soon as the ferry departs, I am going to the upper deck to get a better view. – Concern to protect the sensitive ecosystem of the Charleston harbor for the convenience of all our guests. Smoking is prohibited on all Fort Sumter tour vessels. – We finally depart and there’s the Carnival Ecstasy, I actually went on a cruise on that ship back in the early 90’s when it was brand new. They have this bar here on the lower deck but there’s no one here. There’s the old custom house, one of the most famous buildings here in Charleston, and there’s the U.S.S. Yorktown.

This small fort in the middle of the harbor is Castle Pinckney, here we see it with Fort Sumter in the background. See all those Church spires or steeples? Well Charleston is also called the holy city because of the great number of churches of different denominations in the city. We’re almost there. The palmetto, the symbol of South Carolina. Fly pelican! (laughs) Well here we are.

Fort Sumter was of great significance during the American Civil War, as the first battle was fought right here. That’s a good trip. We get a very detailed explanation of all the events that transpired here. We are free to roam around, explore every nook and cranny. They are going to raise the flag now. There is Charleston in the distance and the sandbar to the west. Since we are the first tour of the day, we have the honor to witness and some to participate in the raising of the flag ceremony. (applause) This is a good gun, the big one. They have all these exhibits outside with the different cannons and the historic context, and here’s looking towards the sandbar. There is a small museum inside where they give you a more detailed history and they have all these artifacts.

And there is the flag that flew in Fort Sumter during the bombardment on April 1861. This is the flag. These are all the flags that have flown here over the years. (upbeat instrumental music) Oh I wonder what’s down there under the hatch. This was a very nice visit here, Fort Sumter. 31 dollars, very informative, you know the national park service, everything is new like the speakers on the boat were super clear so we could understand everything, it is very well maintained here, and there’s a lot of history that I didn’t know actually, especially that the Civil War started here, of course the wind picks up at the exact moment when I start recording the video. Anyways we’re going to continue exploring Charleston now, that’s Charleston down there, I don’t know if you can see it cause of the wide angle but yeah, that’s where we’re going next.

We head back on the boat in about five minutes, actually I think they’re leaving without me, they’re leaving without me. There he is, he’s gotta make sure everybody gets off the island. Three miles away. Going back to the mainland. Once again, there is the U.S.S. Yorktown, of World War Two glory. One of it’s final missions, the recovery of the Apollo Eight command module on December of 1968. The bridge of course, the Arthur Ravenel opened in 2005 and it has a pedestrian and a bike lane. We’ll cross it later for sure. And here’s another close up of the Yorktown. We’re not going to have time to visit it today unfortunately but it’s on the list.

And we are back and we see dolphins. The next victims. Let’s go find something to eat. Yes I am starving, I skipped breakfast again. That’s where we came from. This is Liberty Park. It is actually called Liberty Square and it is a nice park here by the aquarium and the ferry terminal. It’s actually called Liberty Square. Now let’s go find the parking near downtown. Finding parking has proved challenging, there is this meter but it is only for half an hour, so. I found parking on the top floor, at least we have a view. This is the Cumberland garage. Let’s explore, this is where I parked. One dollar for half and hour, but it is what it is.

Downtown. Okay, here we are, East Bay Street. We’ll go there later. This is one of the main historic streets here. There is Magnolia’s, the restaurant where we ate the last time we were here. There is also Blossom, but my plan is to go to the Lagunitas taproom and beer sanctuary. But I can’t find it. Let me walk around a little bit, see if I can find a place that is not very formal, more like a bar since I am by myself here.

This fountain is a waterfront park, from where you can see once again, Castle Pinckney and Fort Sumter. I finally make up my mind and go for this deserted French bistro, spectacular turkey club sandwich that I wash down with an ice cold beer. Much better now. Well Lagunitas apparently shut down but I ate at this place called East Bay Meeting House. Well let’s explore one of the most picturesque cities in the United States of America. Apparently there were slave auctions all along this street. Here’s a historic building from the 1700’s called the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon. The building has served many functions over the years, it was even a jail during the Revolutionary War.

Here’s looking west on Broad Street, towards the San Michael church, we’ll go there later. Now we are approaching a city block called Rainbow Row and let’s hear the explanation from this fine city guide. – High class people came in and brightened up the area and then in the 1950’s a photographer from Time magazine visited Charleston, took pictures of these homes and captioned his photo, a beautiful Rainbow Row. That’s how it gets it’s name. – Well, there you go, now you know where the name Rainbow Row comes from. The famous Rainbow Row back there, gonna walk a little bit on this street, this is very very picturesque.

Here we are, by Adger’s Wharf, at the southern end of water front park. Nice area for a picnic here. I originally thought that these plaques on all the houses with the year meant that the house dated back to like 1670, but they all have the same year so no, it is just the year of the founding of the city, and the plaque is just an award given to property owners who have preserved their historic homes.

Here, East Bay street becomes East Battery with this promenade and old antebellum homes. Some of these homes are bed and breakfasts. Some, like this one, are museums. I’ve seen that C17 plane flying around a couple of times today. By the way this is the Roper house which you can also tour, dating back to 1838, it originally belonged to Robert Roper, a prominent cotton planter. We are reaching the end and this park here is called White Point Garden. Here is a statue of General William Moultrie, twice governor of South Carolina. Beautiful park. This is a monument dedicated to the defenders of Fort Moultrie. I think I’m going to take a break. There goes another military plane. Nearby here, a joint base Charleston shares runways with Charleston International Airport.

At the southern tip of Charleston stands this other monument to the confederate defenders of Charleston, installed in 1932 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Here’s the famous bandstand, but it’s not used for concerts anymore because the neighbors complained about the noise. Well I’ve taken my break here at the park, now let’s continue exploring. I’m just going to walk back north here on Meeting Street, this here is actually a b and b, it would be pretty cool to stay at an 1892 mansion here. This here is the Calhoun Mansion, the largest single family residence in all of Charleston, and they do have tours but I’m not in the touring mood.

I mean I am tempted to go in, it looks like it is beautiful inside but nah. Not everything is restored here, this one here seems to be in a little bit of disrepair. First Presbyterian Church. They look like they’ve got a delivery. Let’s see the cemetery next to the church. Some important people are buried here. Betcha. I know it is probably rude to be peeking into a private residence, but the pretty garden caught my attention, and this one too. They’re selling something here. Here is the recently renamed judicial center. These are sweetgrass baskets, weaved by gulla artisans, being sold right here in front of Saint Michael’s Church built in the 1760’s.

This one also has a rather large cemetery inside the property. I wonder how all these people would feel if they knew that their final resting place has become a tourist attraction. (church bells) Very thin gravestones. More sweetgrass baskets. This intersection called the four corners of law. That’s city hall right there. Let’s continue exploring. The cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in the distance. This pretty park here is Washington Square. Beautiful oak trees. I assume this is old George himself. That is a FedEx truck right in front of the hall. And here, another church. I can see why they call it the holy city.

This is the circular congregational church. Of course there is a large cemetery in the back. Let’s go to that one next. They have some kind of artillery museum inside. Another time, perhaps. Here we are, Saint Philip’s Church. The state’s oldest congregation, and it is quite an imposing structure. In this one, the cemetery is actually across the street. It is open to visitors, let’s step inside. They let you see the church in exchange for a voluntary donation. This is by the way an Episcopal church, the current building dating back to 1836, although the spire wasn’t finished until 1850. You do have to open these doors in order to sit down for service. (church bells) It is three p.m. This one has the largest graveyard of all the other churches I’ve seen today and the largest mausoleums too. Oak tree. There’s Calhoun, the one with the largest house. Well, there you have it, lots of important people interred here.

More important people over here. I am hot and thirsty and guess what I found, a bar! That’s not Bud Light, by the way, you know I like my IPA. Hm, it rhymes. Apparently it is a huge pub, just a slow time of the day, it was a little bit of a pick me up and now we continue towards the market which is this way, I think. What can I tell you guys, I’m exhausted, I did a run this morning at the campgrounds, and then we did Fort Sumner, and now I’ve been at this for three hours, so just walking around exploring the city. But we have one more thing, one more thing to see before we go.

And that’s right here. Check it out. The city market, I’m going to go all the way to the end and walk you through. Everybody gets freaked out by this little camera, I don’t know why. Anyways, let me show you where we are. That’s it. Right there, that’s the entrance, the main entrance to the, it’s called the city market. I think the cruise ship is about to leave but here we have the market, let’s go in. Okay get ready, for the next minute and a half I am going to show you the market, the whole market, all four city blocks.

This market by the way was established here in the 1790’s, of course it’s burned down and had to be rebuilt, probably several times. (upbeat techno music) Well that was the city market, in a nutshell. I’m going to start walking back to the car. I think we’ve seen enough for one day but hey, there’s the old United States custom house building, right here by the market. Here it is from another angle. And there’s the cruise ship. I remember when that ship was brand new. Well in hindsight, maybe I should have used one of these bikes instead of walking. Caramela’s, this is supposed to be really good. I didn’t catch the music, the cruise is still here, but most importantly, Kia is still here. Well, saying goodbye to downtown Charleston. For now, but we are not leaving yet. You know I wanted to walk across the Arthur Ravenel bridge, but I am not going to do that, at least I am going to drive on it.

Here we go, fasten your seatbelts. It opened as I said in 2005. And it is the third longest bridge of it’s kind in the western hemisphere. And it is wide, eight lanes wide. On the other side is Mount Pleasant. And I want to see this park that has a pier here. Maybe see the view. There’s the famous bridge. This is the Mount Pleasant War Memorial. Right here in Mount Pleasant Memorial Park. But the real reason I came here was to see the bridge from underneath and to walk on the pier. This is very cool, this place here, great views, and I would love to continue exploring but I’m tired, the day is coming to an end soon. Before we call it a night, I am going to have dinner with a viewer. We are going to meet at this barbecue place called Swig and Swine. – You’ve arrived. – Here we are at Swig and Swine, we are about to eat, here’s John Legman, a viewer of the channel, let me. Well the light is not very good but we are going to eat now so I’ll let you know how it is.

In the morning, I depart. Very tempted to drive straight to Miami in one go. Google says it’s only like, eight hours. You see, the challenges we sometimes have on the road when we have to put gas. Must be lovebug season. They just appeared and they’re all over the place. Alright, let’s get back. You know what, I’m going to drive all the way back to Miami today. How hard could it be? I just have to drive through Georgia, into Florida, through Jacksonville at rush hour, way into the dark night, but I’m going to show you that in another video, maybe.
